Market cap of top 6 Sensex firms up over Rs 16,000 cr

The overall market valuation of six of the leading ten Sensex firms climbed by a whopping Rs 16,445.27 crore last week when the 30-share Sensex advanced by 26.49 points to end at 28,078.35 as the long pending GST clearance in the Rajya Sabha bolstered the outlook for Asia’s third biggest economy, increasing risk taking appetite.
GST, the country’s biggest reform since independence, seeks to transform India into a single market by abolishing multiple taxes.
TCS, the country’s top IT software services exporter emerged as the biggest gainer in terms of market capitalisation while HDFC Bank, CIL, Sun Pharma, HUL and ONGC also witnessed a rise in their market valuation last week.
The market cap of TCS jumped Rs 5,980.25 crore to Rs 521,946.66 crore last week while that of ONGC climbed Rs 5,004.96 crore to Rs 193,182.97 crore.
Drug major Sun Pharma’s market value rose by Rs 3,032.43 crore to Rs 202,727.88 crore last week while that of private lender HDFC Bank jumped Rs 1,045.56 crore to Rs 317,052.47 crore.
CIL witnessed an Rs 884.29 crore rise in its market cap to Rs. 208,061.04 crore while that of HUL was bolstered by Rs 497.78 crore to Rs 199,933.02 crore last week.
