India’s mineral production grows by 4.7% in June

The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for the month of June 2016 at new base Series (2004-05=100) rose by 4.7 per cent to 127.3 as compared to June 2015, according to government data released on Tuesday.
“The cumulative growth for the period April- June 2016-17 over the corresponding period of previous year stands at 2.3 per cent,” showed the data published by the ministry of mines.
The total value of mineral production (excluding atomic & minor minerals) in the country during June 2016 was Rs 18,344 crore, revels the data.
The contribution of Coal was the highest at Rs 7171 crore (39%), followed by Petroleum (crude) Rs 5393 crore, Natural gas (utilized) Rs 2077 crore, Iron ore Rs 1802 crore, Limestone Rs 584 crore and Lignite Rs 517 crore. These six minerals together contributed about 96 per cent of the total value of mineral production in June 2016.
