Govt planning to roll out GST as soon as possible: FM

The Indian Government has said that it will take the altered GST bill to the Lok Sabha and try to get it passed at the earliest. As per reports, the Government is planning to roll out the tax as soon as possible. Commenting on the issue, Finance Minister Aruj Jaitley told the media, "This is Indian democracy and federalism both at their very best. We now propose to take some of the additions and amendments which have been made to the bill as approved by the Lok Sabha back to the Lok Sabha very soon, subject to the direction of the speaker.” "It will convert India into one unified market with one unified tax. I would like to do as soon as possible," he added. As per reports, rates and other details of the taxes will be decided by the GST Council, a body of centre and states.
